Grad School Bound!!

I have been accepted into the Master's program at the University of Wyoming in Laramie!! I'm headed there this fall to start my studies in US History with a focus on the American West.

After having spent several years trying to figure out what's next, it is extremely nice to finally know what that looks like. The program is a 2 year (36 hour) program, so I will (if all goes to plan) graduate in May of 2016. I will most likely be back to North Carolina for a good visit in August before I go to orientation and start school.

A few handy facts about the University of Wyoming:

1. Team name: Cowboys, Cowgirls, or Pokes (depending on age and gender I guess?)
Additional information: there are actually 2 mascots for U of WY.
Cowboy Joe, who, surprisingly, is really a horse...is not to be confused with Pistol Pete, the human.

2. Colors: Brown and Gold. Chosen because of brown-eyed susans found in southeastern Wyoming. I think I will stick with wearing the gold.

3. School enrollment: 14,000

4. Conference: Mountain West of Div. I (there basketball does NOT compare to Div. I in my opinion. that will definitely be an adjustment)

5. The basketball arena looks like something you'd see in Star Wars.
Luke Skywalker's home           vs.        Cowboy Joe's home

6. There is no baseball team. At all. There IS however, a University of Wyoming Rodeo Team.

7. The fight school includes the phrase " he's a high-falootin', rootin, tootin', son of a gun from ol' Wyoming"
                       Ragtime Cowboy Joe

Go 'Pokes!
