I guess I have a lot to catch up on....sorry for the lack of posts...now that June is over, I can get back to my normal schedule and routine. And boy am I ready for it! Working on Saturdays is not much fun!
A couple weeks ago, we had a group from the middle school come out to do some work in our Victory Garden out at Heart Mountain. Part of the deal was getting to see the root cellar that is owned by the people who live right next to the museum. From the outside, it looks like a shallow mound that would only hold a few potatoes and beets.
It actually looks like THIS on the inside:
which is totally NOT what I was expecting! You could drive a truck (WWII-era) down through the middle and load/unload goods into certain areas depending on what produce you had. The vents on the top are not in very good condition, so they're falling over and some have dropped down into the cellar inself. It's a pretty neat place! Just one of the perks of the job.....the general public is not allowed inside since it is on private property.
My tours at the Buffalo Bill Museum are going well. Most of them have turned out pretty well. I'm hoping to get to a point this week where I don't have to use my book of notes anymore. Hopefully!
I went to the rodeo tonight....it was Extreme Bulls night.....only bull riding. I'm going back on Tuesday and they'll have the rest of the events which will be more exciting. Out of 40 riders, only about 8 or 9 rode the full 8 seconds. On an exciting note, one of the bull riders was a relative of Lane Frost (for those of you who don't know his story, go watch the movie 8 Seconds...he's a famous bull rider) and then in between rounds, a girl trick rider came out to perform. In her other job, she is a stunt rider for Regina and Snow White on one of my favorite shows, Once Upon A Time....that was neat!
I got to go out to the farm on Friday for a bonfire visit with Jessica. Kevin is really growing! It was fun to be out there again.
Then on Saturday, I went over and played with Hazel in her new pool. It's nice to dip your feet in. :)
Now that I have my life back and won't be working quite so much, I'll be able to do more fun things and then post about them. Sorry for the absence....we're back in business now!
